A word on the denim skirt

Do you all have a denim skirt? I think this a great key component for summer and winter. Especially those of us who work in a casual environment – it can really be dressed up or down. You won’t be surprised that I have about 4…but guess what? I only really like one! It is the black shirt epidemic. Always looking for the perfect one. The one I love for work came from Old Navy. I would think it would be similar to this one:

Want to know the thing that I really want right now? A striped shirt. Sounds stupid, but you want what you want, right? Here it is, in its non-sale glory…

Ok, it is now a little on sale, but not enough for me to pay $25 bucks for basically a tee-shirt. But my birthday is coming up! It will make the list, I think…

Day 46…last day (almost)

Well, the last work day, that is. Gigi is feeling some guilt for not religiously “playing” on the weekends. I told her (and you) that if you send me things, I will post them! Otherwise, we are shutting down until February when I expect all of you to play again but the winter version of 30 days! Gigi is already freaking out because some her suits are winter wear…we’ll discuss rules later. HA!

So here we go! I can honestly say Gigi has never looked so hip, trendy, rockin’ and cool in the office! Woo hoo! Go back and look at the Air Earlham suit – is this the same lady???

I, on the other hand, am not trendy, cool or hip today. I just can’t manage it until this stupid heat is over. But when it is…WATCH OUT WORLD. Because I am still going strong! How long can I go?

Wow, that is a lot of days.

Anyhoo, only Gigi in this post…I basically wore “real” clothes for about 3 hours. So you will just have to trust me! The funny thing about this outfit is that it is the end of September and we are dressing like it is July! WTF??? Check me out “tomorrow”. Same thing. UGH!

While this may be going up late, I am erring on the side of better late than never…RIGHT???

Here is my dorky self. Somehow it always feels fine at home and then progressively dorkier as the day goes on. Why is that? This is probably where wearing a suit every day takes the guess work out. But what fun is that? Can’t win ‘em all…Gigi, on the other hand, went LBD. Which is a pretty sassy outfit for a Wednesday, no? No one is messing with her in this one. And think of everything she could do with this dress – scarf, necklace, jacket…really, everyone should have one!

Check out Gigi’s dress! Yet another one that I have never seen! She may be benefiting the most from our little experiment. And, the red shoes – nice touch! Ladies, I can’t say enough about the shirtdress. So freakin’ flattering!!! Really, I have yet to see someone who doesn’t look good in this!

And here I am, looking shclumpy next to super professional woman. But I actually love these pants, which are surprisingly juniors. That RARELY happens! And this shirt is a good go-to for a boring day when I am uninspired. So I am okay. Are you okay? Are we all OKAY???

Special shout-out to Dulce who found a skirt in the deep recesses of her closet that with a little elastic (and taking the tags off!) will be a great fall skirt with boots! Ha! Rock on.

Day 42 – going strong or barely hanging in there?

Depends on who you ask! Gigi is already planning a shopping trip – she is scraping by. But she is almost done! I, on the other hand, am going strong. SAD, people, SAD!

Does this dress count as cheating? I did purchase it during this time but it was on mega-sale and it wasn’t to beef up the wardrobe. It was a deal that couldn’t be missed (she justified to herself…) I will confess that on Saturday I wore a shirt that had already been worn with a different skirt. But it was to temple and I was running late and desperate. I know – empty reasons. But I confessed and it was the Day of Atonement, after all!

And here is Gigi in her Air Earlham stewardess suit. Looking so chic! As another office worker quipped “serving coffee, tea and consensus!”. Hang in there, Gigi! Five days to go!!! You can do it (even if you are in your PJs…)

Day 39 – Buh bye, Dulce!

This is Dulce’s last day. Really, I think her life will be empty and boring and Monday she will be back. If she has any clothes left…because Gigi has 8 days to go!!! She is absent today but still playing…

I had to jerry-rig my camera to get this picture since everyone is gone in my office. So I cut my feet off:

Usually, I don’t dress up that much on a casual Friday but we will call this my “atonement outfit” since I will be going directly to temple to say “Oh, I am so bad. So very bad” about a million times.

And here are my atonement shoes, which are making their debut. Again, bought them at the beginning of the summer even though they are fall shoes. So, yay, fall!

Hello again! Let’s talk about how much I love this outfit. I feel so cute! Could be my ($14) buy of the summer, this skirt:

I was ragging on Gigi after her week of kick-ass outfits, here she is in khaki and black. But let’s be honest. We can’t be rockstars every day. We all have the khaki/black days. And I tried to have that kind of day yesterday and failed. Gigi is doing it better. And why? Because her “boring” is more more tailored and sleek, as opposed to me – a hot, wrinkled mess with pajama bottoms on. And I had to wear that stupid outfit until 11:00. That didn’t help…

What happened yesterday? I don’t know! Loser! I own it. Anyhoo, maybe it is because my outfit is so lame! I go around and around with these pants. They aren’t great but they are bad either. Just meh. They look kind of like PJs in this picture. And then the white cotton button down…which but the end of the day felt like a wrinkled mess. But I don’t like the ones with the polyester in them – hot and just weird. I have about 10 varieties of white or similar long-sleeved button downs…for emergency days like today!

And here again we see Gigi pulling out an old dress that looks fab! How flattering is that! She calls this her stewardess dress. So if you ask nicely, she may give you two packets of peanuts…

Dulce thinks she might be able to make it through this week! Rock on,sister.

And I can secretly report that Kiwi is still going strong without even trying. Shhhh. Don’t tell her I told.

Day 36

See what good things come out of the back of your closet? I swear that I have never seen this on Gigi before and look at what a great outfit it is! She needs to go dancing someplace in that swinging skirt! Or maybe on a boat…

Since the weather is cooling down, I am moving into longer pants. This isn’t a suit, although it turned out to be one today. These are my awesome sailor-style pants that I found at TJ Maxx way back in May and took them Annie the tailor and I can tell they will be a favorite of mine this winter! I will be on that boat with Gigi! I just need a cute striped shirt…WAIT! I am NOT buying anything!

As for my hip and cool long necklace look today (which I got lots of compliments on) – my daughter’s comment was “You look like a doofus”. I guess fashion is in the eye of the beholder.

By the way, another shirt is going away – curse you, long torso!!!!

As for Dulce, her photo got lost in transit. My phone wouldn’t accept it or something. So it may show up tomorrow in a double header! Rest assured she is still in the game!!
